CELLULITE TREATMENT
Cellulite
Cellulite needs no introduction but it needs clarification. Women are more affected by cellulite than men. Cellulite usually appears in puberty in women as hormones change and is usually found around buttocks and the outer thighs. In men, loose fat on the abdomen, buttocks, pectoral area and the thighs can resemble cellulite. The culprits are weight gain, genetic predisposition, and hormonal changes throughout life. You do not have to be overweight to have cellulite and cellulite is not always reduced by weight loss. There is much misinformation and mythology about cellulite. Most women over age 18 have some degree of cellulite. This means that cellulite is not abnormal, but by definition, a normal occurrence. However, its appearance is deemed unacceptable by many and numerous treatments have sprung up. The fact is, that despite being so common, cellulite has not been the subject of rigorous scientific study and only several articles have been published. The current scientific information suggests that cellulite is nothing more than structural differences in the connective tissue immediately below the collagen layer of the skin, the dermis. In areas of cellulite, the connective tissue is irregular and tethered to the deeper tissues by fibrous strands. The fat, which is found in the pockets between these fibrous strands is seen to protrude into the dermis and is seen on the outside as the bulges of the cellulite. Conversely, the tethering strands of fibrous tissue in between the fat pockets are the dimples of cellulite , much like dimples in a mattress that are caused by the strings that hold the tucks down. There is no evidence that cellulite is somehow bad fat. The fat within cellulite has normal blood flow, normal lymphatic flow and normal biochemistry.
How Endermologie Works
To date, no method has been found to reliably and consistently reduce the appearance of cellulite. Cellulite does not respond well to weight loss, exercise, creams, or even surgical liposuction. The ONLY FDA APPROVED method to reduce cellulite is Endermologie® but even this method does not work in all people. Endermologie® uses a unique mechanism of rollers and gentle suctioning to stretch and deeply massage the affected areas in a way that cannot be otherwise duplicated. The combined action of the motorised rollers that successfully fold and unfold the skin and circulation is increased .
Endermologie and liposuction
Endermologie is more useful and more used after liposuction to ensure the best and smoothest possible result. Your surgeon will discuss with you this option, which is recommended in most cases of liposuction. Liposuction may result in minor dimpling or rippling in the skin and Endermologie treatments minimise this post-operative problem.
